Into the Wild – Weekly Musings on our Yard’s Transformation | May 26th – June 1st

Yardwork:

  • We are still digging up the garden, aiming to finish by the end of this week. But with the way things have been going (rain and everything taking longer than expected) – who knows…
  • We have started laying rock on the side of the garden that is already done.

Gardening:

  • The windstorm destroyed my ferns and bleeding heart in the front garden—I’m not impressed.

Flora:

  • Picked some lilacs during a walk.
  • Discovered that I have peonies in my front yard!
  • The poppies alongside our house are blooming, and they’re massive.
  • Found more surprise plants in the flower garden – some kind of bleeding heart.
  • My Hoya Bella bloomed!

Fauna:

  • Spotted a flicker just outside our patio window on the neighbor’s apple tree! I’ve never seen one that close before—it was so cool!
  • Discovered a cool beetle while digging in the garden.
  • A blue jay visited our bird bath!

Miscellaneous:

  • Spotted a wagon for sale at a thrift store right after I was just saying how handy one would be. Now I’m debating whether to get it.
  • Found an extra-long broken branch during our walk and decided to bring it home to use as bird perches in the yard.

Thanks for reading! Until next time,
Tracey
