My Favourite Thrift Finds of 2024

I would have loved to spend more time thrifting this year, but with a tighter budget my treasure-hunting adventures were fewer than usual. Still, even with less time spent browsing the shelves and Instagram stories of thrift and vintage shops, I managed to find a few pieces that fit perfectly into my home. There is something so rewarding about discovering unique, affordable decor that adds character and charm to a space. In this post, I am sharing my favorite thrifted finds of 2024.

Vintage Henry Express Metal Wagon
Just a few days before spotting this wagon online, I had mentioned to my husband how perfect a little wagon would be for smaller yardwork tasks – saving me from hauling around a bulky wheelbarrow or an awkward bucket. At the time, it was just a passing thought, but then, almost like fate this very wagon appeared on the website of a local thrift store. I could not believe my luck! I decided to wait a few days, telling myself that if it was still available on Sunday, I would take it as a sign and buy it. Sure enough, when Sunday rolled around it was still there! I am so glad I went for it, as it has been an incredibly handy tool in the yard, and I could not be any happier with this find.

Ceramic Duck & Brass-Footed Plant Pots

This ceramic duck was an instant must-have! (Though, let’s be honest – almost every bird or duck I come across ends up in my basket) But this one with its unique shape and subtle metallic accents set it apart from the usual finds. With no markings to hint at its origin, it remains a bit of a mystery. Whether it is a rare piece or just an unusual design, it is a treasure I am delighted to have in my collection!
The brass-footed plant pots were also an easy yes! I already had one, but when I spotted a trio of them up for sale, I knew they would be the perfect addition to the bathroom shelves. Their warm brass tones and detailed feet add vintage charm, creating a beautiful contrast against the modern style of the bathroom.

Vintage Brass Sun Perpetual Calendar
The moment that I saw this beautiful find posted on social media, I wasted no time and “ran” to the shop to purchase it. Unfortunately, it was missing the pegs for the date, but found a creative solution by using a pair of pearl earrings which ended up adding a charming touch.

Mallard Painting

No surprise, another duck-related find! This mallard painting, signed by E. Max captures the serene essence of autumn with its muted foliage and calm lake backdrop. The subtle, earthy tones evoke a peaceful, tranquil atmosphere, perfectly reflecting the quite beauty of autumn. It is a lovely addition that brings nature’s calm into my decor. As I continue to decorate, I am finding myself more inspired by the outdoors, and this piece has only fueled my desire to incorporate more earthy tones and nature-inspired elements, and touches of the natural world into my home.

Thrifting may have been a bit slower for me this year, but each find still brought so much joy and character into my home. I love how every piece tells a story and adds a unique touch to my space. Here is to more treasure hunting in 2025. I cannot wait to see what new (or old!) gems that I will discover!

Thanks for reading! Until next time,
Tracey
