Yardwork:
- We are getting so close to finishing the garden. It’s not exactly how I envisioned it, but given the odd space we have, it works.
- Naturally, on the last day of my intermission (month-long break from work), it’s pouring rain, so we can’t finish the garden today.
- Since we’re in the middle of projects all over the yard and it’s been raining so much, we’re dealing with a swampy mess. However, on the plus side – at least we now know where the low spots are and where we need to fill in with soil.

Gardening:
- I trimmed the broken fronds from the wind-damaged ferns and planted a few more. I added tomato cages to protect them as best I could because of course, a storm rolled in right after I planted them.

Flora:
- Some irises have started blooming, along with lily of the valley, lungwort, and daylilies. The bleeding heart is still in bloom.
- More Alberta native plants from ALCLA and Wild About Flowers have arrived!

Miscellaneous:
- I bought that wagon I spotted last week and love it! It’s so handy when I don’t need a big wheelbarrow. I also picked up a glass vase, a decorative vase, and a small woven basket while I was there
- I’ve realized that bird baths screwed into posts that go into the ground aren’t very cleaning-friendly. After some struggle unscrewing mine, I decided to take it off the post and place it on top of an unused terracotta pot. Now it’s easier to clean and closer to the ground, providing better coverage for the birds.
- I got some obelisks for the patio. I am planning to plant a Scarlet Runner Bean in one and nasturtiums in the other, and also ordered a cute rain gauge.
