Into the Wild – Weekly Musings on our Yard’s Transformation | June 16th – 22nd

Yardwork:

  • Cleaned up the alley side of our garage, laid down fresh soil, and planted marigolds, sunflowers, and a mix of wildflower seeds.

Gardening:

  • We received our first frost advisory for the garden, so we covered our herbs, strawberries, and tomatoes just in case. Spoiler alert: It didn’t freeze.

Flora:

  • Spotted some mushrooms growing in our backyard.
  • A bunch of thistle has grown in our side yard now that the thimbleberries are gone.
  • The flowers intended for our boulevard garden project arrived, which I had planned to work on during the solstice. (I had initially had some vacation time set aside just for this) Unfortunately, due to the layoff, I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to tackle such a large project. I am REALLY bummed about this – I had been looking forward to it for so long.

Fauna:

  • We had a cute little bunny visit our front yard!

Miscellaneous:

  • The 18th was the worst day ever! I was laid off from the company that I had worked at for six and a half years. I have no idea what I am going to do.

Thanks for reading! Until next time,
Tracey
