July 1st was the first day in two weeks that I’ve felt capable of more than just existing. This layoff has been really tough.
Yardwork:
- Finally cleared out the thistle in the side yard – it was like a jungle back there.
- Built a platform for the firewood using the sidewalk blocks we removed.
- I revamped the flowerbed by our patio steps, removing the mulch and dead boxwood. I added rocks around the perimeter, and added fresh soil.

Gardening:
- I added some native plants and flowers to the flowerbed by our patio steps that were originally intended for the boulevard garden.

Flora:
- We’ve got a tomato on our plant!
- Our dwarf fireweed has bloomed.
- Our peonies have bloomed, and they’re fabulous! I picked a few to enjoy in a vase inside the house.

Fauna:
- I spotted a ladybug larvae for the first time, they are so weird

Miscellaneous:
- A neighbor’s kid decided to mow a strip of our lawn… Thankfully, they stopped just before cutting down the clover blooms. We weren’t planning on mowing for a while, so I guess we will have to live with this ridiculously short strip of grass for a while…

Thanks for reading! Until next time,
